The Aragonese architect Luis Aladrén, based in San Sebastián, was chosen to carry out the work, being one of the solemnity patterns in design. The construction spanned 10 years, from 1890-1900, eclecticism (monumental style with some medievalists suggestions and baroque touches) guided the steps in construction. The building was inaugurated on July 31, 1900, the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. There is in this palace a chapel dedicated to the saint.
